Case study: The Academy of Marketing Conference 2023

Titled Revolution to Revolutions, the conference invited academics from across the globe to the University of Birmingham to present their research, home to one of the UK’s oldest and largest businesses schools engaged in cutting edge and impactful marketing research. 

Chaired by Professor Finola Kerrigan, Professor of Marketing and Interim Dean from the Birmingham Business School, our Academic Events Management Team headed by Louise Walczak, helped organise the three-day conference, bringing the idea to reality. With a year to plan – significantly less time than normal of this scale – together the team helped to organise and deliver its series of workshops, presentations, special sessions and fantastic social events.

From:

  • Delegate management: we welcomed 374 delegates from 35 countries in-person to campus. This included event registration, payments and delegate communications.
  • Venue management: we brought the conference to the Birmingham Medical School and arranged for the gala dinner at the Birmingham City Council House, including the addition of a drink reception in the Bramall and a marquee on campus.
  • Sponsorship management: we worked with the committee to confirm the sponsor packages and arranging payments and all sponsor logistics.
