Sally Badham Lee
Head of Conferences and Events
With more than 25 years' of experience at the University, Sally oversees the entire operations of our team. She regularly works with external clients to bring major events to the University, from the televised Prime Ministerial Debate to the spectacular Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Ryan Adams McGlasson
Deputy Head of Conferences and Events
Ryan oversees our account management and events delivery teams, helping to implement strategy, provide clear direction and strengthen our operational efficiency. He brings creative solutions to complex event requirements and looks for fresh ways to showcase our amazing and unique venues.
Georgia Johnson
Account Manager
Georgia manages the trio of account executives within our team, whilst supporting clients within the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. Since joining the University in 2021, she has helped bring some incredible events to campus, and successfully won the bid to host the Faraday Institution Conference in 2023.
Christine Lyons
Account Executive
Christine is our event guru, having worked at the University for over fourteen years. She looks after the Colleges of Arts and Law and Social Sciences and has helped deliver a substantial number of world-class events throughout her career.
Louise Burridge
Account Executive
Louise is responsible for external clients looking to host their event on campus or at our city-centre venue, The Exchange. She enjoys unravelling complex event requirements and solving issues to meet client expectations.
Demi Lee
Account Executive
Demi is responsible for the College of Medical and Dental Sciences and the College of Life and Environmental Sciences. With experience in events finance, she'll help you maximise your budget to create a fantastic event.
Events Management
Planning an event from scratch can feel a little daunting. Our event management team is here to take the pressure off by managing, coordinating, and delivering all aspects of your event. We’ll support you from delegate and venue management to sponsorship, event marketing and financial planning.
Our event management service isn’t confined to campus. We are exceptionally well connected, so whether your event is in our venues, elsewhere in the Midlands, or both, we can coordinate every detail.
Louise Walczak
Deputy Head of Conferences and Events Management
Louise heads up the events management team, delivering a variety of services to help bring academic events to campus. In 2022, she managed and organised the International Conference on Biomagnetism 2022, a large-scale event that took four years of planning and attracted 600 academic experts to campus.
Samantha Oliver
Senior Event Manager
Samantha is your go-to expert when organising large-scale events across campus and the city centre. Having worked at the University for over seven years, she has valuable experience in event planning and delivery. Samantha has helped organise and deliver an academic conference attracting over 700 delegates to campus.
Katie Brown
Senior Event Manager
Katie organises and manages events at the University. She’ll be there from start to finish, helping you choose the right venue, manage delegates and budgets, organise fantastic social events, and shine light on incredible research.
Chelsea Hetherington
Event Manager
With over five years' experience, Chelsea is an expert at organising corporate conferences, and AV/ technical production. She knows how to execute seamless, unforgettable events both on and off campus. Chelsea will take care of every detail, managing and coordinating your event from start to finish to ensure you have a smooth, stress-free experience.
Lucy Hall
Event Manager
Lucy is responsible for organising and managing conferences on campus. Her favourite event was working on the AM Marketing Conference 2023, her first conference attracting over 300 delegates to the Medical School.
Rebecca Amos
Event Manager
Rebecca is passionate about delivering successful academic events from start to finish. From selecting the perfect venue to managing delegates and sponsorships, and creating memorable socials, she ensures every aspect of your event is meticulously handled. You can count on Rebecca to make your event a standout success.
Events Delivery
Once you’ve found the perfect venue, you’ll be in the safe hands of our event delivery team. Your dedicated event coordinator will oversee all aspects of your event. From organising catering, porters, cleaning and security to arranging audio-visual support, they’ll be there every step of the way.

Helen manages our team of events coordinators, ensuring every aspect of events delivery runs smoothly.

Event Project Manager
Annaliese oversees the delivery of larger events and conferences on campus and is responsible for embedding sustainability initiatives across our operations.

Events Manager
Daniel is passionate about delivering events on campus, particularly at his favourite venue, the Great Hall.
Connor Stanford
Events Coordinator
Connor is one of our other friendly events coordinators, dedicated to delivering events at The Exchange, his home from home. He knows every corner of our city-centre venue, loving its historical charm and versatility.

Josh enjoys creating the best possible event experience and will work alongside you to understand your expectations for catering, AV, and room layout.

Duncan has many years’ events experience and really understands how to make guests feel at ease. His friendly manner and meticulous eye for detail ensure events go beautifully.

Fiona oversees The Exchange team, supporting both commercial and public engagement activities.
Damien
Venue Services Manager
Damien supports with overseeing the daily operations at The Exchange and helps manage event delivery, alongside the venue’s coordinators.
Ying
Venue Services Coordinator
Ying is one of our other friendly coordinators, who meets and greets visitors to The Exchange and supports event delivery, ensuring event spaces are set up for the day.
Hollie
Venues Services Assistant
Hollie is another one of our team’s friendly faces who will meet and greet clients. She supports the daily operational running of the building and is our accessibility expert.
Lydia
Venues Services Assistant
Lydia brings smiles to the room and works with Hollie to meet visitors and support the smooth running of the venue. Lydia is also our sustainability lead at The Exchange.
Gideon
Total Support Services Site Manager
Gideon heads up the cleaning team and ensures that The Exchange and its facilities are squeaky clean. He keeps the building in pristine condition inside and out, helping to preserve its historical charm.
Farman
CBRE Site Manager
Farman oversees maintenance across The Exchange to ensure it’s in tip-top shape. He is also responsible for regularly organising and booking maintenance contractors and keeping our gorgeous building in great condition.
