Sally Badham Lee
Head of Conferences and Events
With more than 25 years' of experience at the University, Sally oversees the entire operations of our team. She regularly works with external clients to bring major events to the University, from the televised Prime Ministerial Debate to the spectacular Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Ryan Adams-McGlasson
Deputy Head of Conferences and Events
Ryan oversees our account management and events delivery teams, helping to implement strategy, provide clear direction and strengthen our operational efficiency. He brings creative solutions to complex event requirements and looks for fresh ways to showcase our amazing and unique venues.
Georgia Johnson
Business Development Manager
Georgia is our Business Development Manager, leading our growth across events, conferences, exhibitions, and corporate gatherings. She blends strategic sales expertise with a warm, relationship-focused approach, helping clients identify opportunities and shape event solutions that deliver real value.
Christine Lyons
Account Executive
Christine is our event guru, having worked at the University for over fourteen years. She looks after the Colleges of Arts and Law, Social Sciences and Professional Services and has helped deliver a substantial number of world-class events throughout her career.
Louise Burridge
Account Executive
Louise is responsible for external clients looking to host their event on campus or at our city-centre venue, The Exchange. She enjoys unravelling complex event requirements and solving issues to meet client expectations.
Demi Lee
Account Executive
Demi is responsible for College of Medicine and Health, College of Life and Environmental Sciences, and College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. With experience in events finance, she'll help you maximise your budget to create a fantastic event.
Events Management
Planning an event from scratch can feel a little daunting. Our event management team is here to take the pressure off by managing, coordinating, and delivering all aspects of your event. We’ll support you from delegate and venue management to sponsorship, event marketing and financial planning.
Our event management service isn’t confined to campus. We are exceptionally well connected, so whether your event is in our venues, elsewhere in the Midlands, or both, we can coordinate every detail.
Louise Walczak
Deputy Head of Conferences and Events Management
Louise heads up the Event Management team, delivering a variety of services to help bring academic events to campus and external venues. She has 20 years of experience in delivering large-scale national and international conferences and events across academic, healthcare and professional associations.
Samantha Oliver
Senior Event Manager
Samantha is your go-to expert when organising large-scale conferences across campus and at external venues. Having worked at the University for over nine years, she has valuable experience in event planning and delivery. Samantha has helped organise and deliver an academic conference attracting over 700 delegates to campus.
Katie Brown
Senior Event Manager
Katie organises and manages academic conferences at the University. She’ll be there from start to finish helping to project manage your event - from organising delegates, abstract submissions and the budget, to planning fantastic social events and off-site visits. She handles every detail, helping you showcase exceptional research professionally.
Siofra Relton
Senior Event Manager
Siofra brings a personable approach to event planning, from initial concept through to delivery. She loves working across different academic fields, bringing delegates together for engaging experiences, and enjoys the challenge of managing events of all sizes — from overseeing abstract submissions to coordinating the many moving parts in an event.

Rebecca is passionate about delivering successful academic events from start to finish. From supporting the management of delegates and sponsorships, to ensuring the website is eye catching and informative, Rebecca will put her all into her events.
Lucy Hall
Event Manager
Lucy is passionate about bringing events to life, from the initial planning stages through to delivery. Lucy particularly enjoys overseeing abstract submission processes, coordinating the many moving parts behind the scenes, and seeing months of planning come together to create a seamless experience for delegates, speakers and organisers.

Event Manager
Elise brings experience delivering large-scale charity events. Having completed a research master’s, she enjoys supporting the excellent research being conducted at the University and showcased through its conferences. She particularly enjoys coordinating the many moving parts behind the scenes to deliver engaging and successful events.
Events Delivery
Once you’ve found the perfect venue, you’ll be in the safe hands of our event delivery team. Your dedicated event coordinator will oversee all aspects of your event. From organising catering, porters, cleaning and security to arranging audio-visual support, they’ll be there every step of the way.

Lydia brings smiles to the room and works with Hollie to meet visitors and support the smooth running of the venue. Lydia is also our sustainability lead at The Exchange.

Total Support Services Site Manager
Gideon heads up the cleaning team and ensures that The Exchange and its facilities are squeaky clean. He keeps the building in pristine condition inside and out, helping to preserve its historical charm.
Fahad
IT AV Support Assistant
Fahad manages everything related to sound and digital support at The Exchange. If you need any technical help during your event, he’ll be right there to assist.

Venue Services Assistant
Callum is a welcoming presence in the venue, greeting visitors with genuine warmth, and ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. Always approachable, he’s ready to lend a hand whenever it’s needed.

Galliford Try Site Manager
Farman oversees all cleaning across the venue to ensure it’s in tip-top shape. He is also responsible for regularly organising and booking contractors and keeping our gorgeous old building in great condition for future generations.
