A radiant new concept for events in Birmingham

A radiant new concept for events in Birmingham

From March to November 2026, The Exchange invites you to dine beneath the sun under a bespoke illuminated sculpture.

What is Sun?

The Exchange, one of Birmingham’s most iconic historic venues, is set to shine even brighter in 2026 with the launch of Sun, a bespoke illuminated sculpture that will leave a lasting impression. From March to November, the Banking Hall will be transformed into a radiant space for drinks receptions, elegant dinners, and networking events.

This extraordinary installation will offer guests the chance to experience events in a new light. With flexible event spaces, tailored menus, and expert event management, Sun promises to elevate every occasion.

An event service you can trust

The Conference and Events team has years of experience bringing events to life at The Exchange, from academic conferences and networking events to glamorous banquets and drinks receptions. Sun will allow your guests to see The Exchange in a new light and is the perfect talking point for event delegates too. The installation created by British artist Luke Jerram, is a fusion of solar imagery, sunlight with a specially created surround sound composition by Duncan Speakman and Sarah Anderson. A programme of public events exploring the sun through the lens of University of Birmingham research will coincide with our display of Sun at The Exchange.
