Say hello to our new Green Conference Catering Package
Caring for the planet has never been more important. That’s why we’re going that extra mile to deliver greener events, with our new low-carbon menus.
We know how much you care – in a recent survey 100% of our customers said they considered sustainability when deciding where to hold a conference.
So – working with Food Fellows and local
suppliers – we’ve put sustainability at the heart of our events, with:
·
A new three-day catering package, where every
dish is carbon-costed
·
Events take place in our most efficient low-energy
venues
·
Delegates are encouraged to travel responsibly
(our own train station has recently been upgraded) and hybrid conferencing is
available for those who want to avoid travel.
·
No single-use plastics, including water
bottles and marketing giveaways
·
Any kitchen waste is turned into green energy
via anaerobic bins
Our green menus aren’t plant-based: transporting
fruit and vegetables from across the globe isn’t good for the planet, and
nor is highly-processed vegan food. Instead we’ve worked with suppliers and
producers to calculate the CO2 equivalent value of each ingredient – and
created outstanding menus which won’t cost the earth.
Each dish has been carefully chosen for its farm-to-fork emissions, and for being A-rated. That means – using data provided by the World Resources Institute and the Poore & Nemecek (2018) study, published in the journal Science, which is the largest meta-analysis of food systems to date – we have considered how each ingredient has been farmed, transported, and packaged, and the CO2 equivalent value was less than 500g. The CO2e value of the average UK meal is 1.7kg.
"I’m thrilled to launch our new green events package, which has taken months of research and careful planning. The University won’t reach its aim to achieve net zero emissions by 2045 unless we all change the way we operate, and I’m very proud to provide an attractive conferencing service with a delicious menu. Our customers are passionate about sustainability and can trust us to organise events which won’t hurt the planet.”
