We’re CUBO Award winners!

Last night (14 July) saw the return of the CUBO Awards in a glittering ceremony at the LICA, Lancaster University. Now in their 10th year, the CUBO Awards celebrate the best innovations and initiatives in higher education commercial and campus services.

Up for grabs were nine prestigious awards, including Creativity in Conferencing, Events and Hospitality – an exciting new addition to this year’s award list. And we’re proud to announce that Conferences & Events has been crowned the 2022 winner!

Up against strong competition from the University of Leicester and Queen’s University Belfast, it was the Conferences & Events team’s innovation in delivering first-class hybrid and online event experiences that saw them take home the trophy.

While other event services were brought to a standstill during the pandemic, Conferences & Events took the initiative to invest in creative event solutions, including expert delivery technology. As a result, the team has been able to deliver unparalleled hybrid and online experiences and allow delegates to enjoy all aspects of an in-person conference or event from the comfort of their homes.

Not only has this provided clients with greater flexibility, but it’s allowed the team to reduce the carbon footprint of events, offering delegates a more sustainable way to meet and collaborate. It’s also helped to set the standard for future online events.

Having invested so much in the delegate experience, it’s a huge achievement for the entire team to be recognised by CUBO as leaders in the world of conferences and events. Malene Stanley, Director of Venues and Events, said:

This has been an amazing effort and so many people have helped to make this happen.

The customer is at the heart of everything we do at the University of Birmingham, and we are always looking at how we can innovate and improve our offering to meet their needs.

It’s thanks to the team’s creativity and ingenuity that we were able to continue delivering an excellent service to clients throughout COVID-19, and have been able to offer the best hybrid and online experiences to date. I couldn’t be prouder of the entire Conferences & Events team.
