During my conference or event
How do I get to the University of Birmingham?

Is parking free?
Parking is free all day at weekends and after 18.00 on weekdays. Access to the campus is via the University’s East Gate, on Edgbaston Park Road. At all other times, car parking is charged at £2.50 per hour or £7.00 for up to 10 hours, using the RingGo cashless system.
Parking for events at Sport & Fitness is £2.00 for 1.5 hours and £5.00 all day, by prior arrangement with the organisers.
I’m a disabled driver with a Blue Badge. Where can I park?
You’ll find designated parking bays across campus reserved for Blue Badge parking.
If you’re booking a conference or event with us and want to reserve Blue Badge parking in the closest space to your venue, please let the team know.
How do I get here by public transport?
University train station is just a short walk from all main campus venues, and a high-frequency service takes just 7 minutes from Birmingham New Street. For platform information and for bus routes, visit the Finding Us page. You’ll also find the Campus Interactive map there, which will map a route to your destination.
As part of the University’s sustainability policy, all visitors are encouraged to use public transport wherever possible.
How do I find my venue?
Is my venue accessible?
You’ll find links to accessibility reports for our main venues provided by AccessAble on our Accessibility page. If you have any additional needs, please talk to a member of our team or ask your event organiser – they’ll make sure you receive all the information you need.
There are areas of campus with steps, steep slopes and uneven pathways. To find the most mobility-friendly route, use the interactive campus map: select ‘Directions’ then ‘No stairs or steep slopes’.
Where can I stay overnight?
Can I use the gym facilities on campus?
Sport & Fitness is the University of Birmingham’s fitness centre. It’s open to members of the public on a Pay & Go basis, and you’re welcome to book an exercise class, climb the 10m climbing wall, or play squash, badminton or outdoor sports while you’re on campus. However, access to the main gym/weights area and swimming pool are reserved for gym members.
Visit the Sport & Fitness website to view Pay & Go prices, class timetables and more.
I’m the organiser. Do I need to bring my own cables for AV?
Venues will be ready for your meeting, event or conference, with either a computer ‘pod’ to control AV, or a TV or screen and HDMI/VGA cables supplied. However, if you’re using an Apple laptop to connect to a TV or screen, you’ll need to bring your own VGA adaptor. You can view more detail on each venue page, or view your chosen venue’s spec sheet.
AV packages for the Great Hall and The Bramall will be designed to suit your needs. AV services are also available in the Lapworth Museum of Geology and the Noble Room, on request.
