On 30 July 2019, the People’s Vote campaign held an open event at the University of Birmingham.

Guest speakers included Birmingham Yardley MP Jess Phillips, Liberal Democrat MEP for the West Midlands Phil Bennion, and former Conservative cabinet minister Lord Heseltine.

The 1000 seats of the Great Hall were soon taken, and it was standing room only at this packed and optimistic event.

The AV team from ClinkClink set the tone, welcoming the crowd with music and dramatic lighting as well as big screens and clear audio.

The evening was also covered by BBC Midlands on their evening bulletin, which shared the story of two company directors in the city who are at war over the Brexit effect on their business future.
They also noted a Brexit Party event took place on the same evening, at a 200-seat venue on Wolverhampton Racecourse.
